LANDS DEPARTMENT

Moose Deer Point Lands Department is working towards developing a land management regime. In 2020, we became an operational Land Code community with the authority to develop laws for the conservation, protection, management, use and possession of MDP lands. Members are encouraged to take an active part of law consultations as they arise. Your input is important to help shape the future of Moose Deer Point.

Located in Muskoka on the shores of Georgian Bay, we live in an incredibly rich and biodiverse region. We share our territory with O’Donnell Point Provincial Nature Reserve, and a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

CURRENT PROJECTS

Solid Waste Management Plan – we have been working toward a better way to manage solid waste. We expect to replace the current bins with a centralized system. It will help us better manage our resources and protect our environment from careless dumping.

Land Use Plan – we will be updating the 2004 Plan. Stay tuned for your opportunity to have input on the plan.

Turtle Monitoring – research partnership with McMaster University to track Blandings Turtles in and near our First Nation.
